Think you Can, or think you Can't
Henry Ford is often credited with stating that, "you can think you can, or think you can't. Either way you will be right." While many others have expressed the same perception and ideology, the most important and relevant concepts that apply to each of us, in almost everything we do, or do not pursue, is that it is up to you. Almost everything is possible (even if it is not possible), and while a lot of things may be impossible, some things that are not possible. How we perceive, conceive and then proceed, based on whether we really believe we can, almost always is one of the most important factors that determine the success of our major. Are you the possibility or impossibility thinker?
1. Possibility thinkers not only believe that they can do anything, but focus on how to achieve whatever they deem necessary. They consider, identify and search for the best possible, without letting negative covers the focus or attention. Know what you want, and move forward in your pursuit. Obviously, this leads to the best results when there is a synergistic balance between positive thinking, optimum training, learning and experience / expertise, and best, proactive behavior based on these insights, goals and needs. This is true in almost every situation, whether it relates to life and personal experiences, or in a leadership position, or in the workplace.
2. There might think translates to almost always beat, negative, self - fulfilling prophesy. If you do not believe something is possible, you will almost always fall back on the perspective and attitude as a built - in reason. In my more than three decades both leadership training, development, and others, as well as personal development training, I have come to refer to this tendency and mindset as excusitis terminal. When we begin to believe something has little or no chance of success, the direct impact on the effort we put in, in terms of both quantity and quality. Have you ever been in a situation or a situation where you do not even give things a chance, or try in earnest, because you know it will not work and it does not matter?
Chances compared think impossible even broader than just having a positive, as opposed to a negative attitude. Former mindset is often easier to directly measure and identify the true, direct relationship. Remember that even the greatest professional golfers will never make a putt challenge, but he believes he can (and will!). It's often about our personal visualization.
