How to Secure a bicycle in the snow
Although it may seem like a motorcycle rider hang them for the winter, the truth is that thousands of cyclists continue to rise throughout the year regardless of the weather. With the introduction of new, improved cycling equipment, more durable riding clothes and increased interest in and awareness of the ability to ride in cold weather and snow particular, more and more riders will keep their bikes throughout the season. While it is possible to ride a bike in the snow, there are a few safety tips to keep in mind to help riders stay on their bikes and ride safely even on snow-covered terrain.

Use the Right Bicycle
When riding in the winter, it is important to be aware of the different materials used in the snowy streets and roads and how they can affect the performance and condition of your bike. Many workers will use the state road grit, salt, and sand to help treat roads for winter conditions and, as these materials can damage the car, they can also be very destructive gear and suspension bike. When riding in the winter, it would be advisable not to use expensive bike only to have it destroyed by the elements - rather than using an older, used bikes that can be designated specifically for winter riding. If you use the "street" bike hybrid or mountain bike instead, consider using wider tires with better grip than standard tires or slicks use during seasonal rise.

Keep Warm
Even in the coldest weather, athletes and outdoor people will tell you they may sweat from doing outdoor activities. They also will tell you that the key to staying warm layering your clothing. When riding in cold weather, be sure to add the proper layer for your clothing - this layer should include water wicking base layer, insulating fleece and waterproof outer layer. Fewer layers generally required for the foot because they are constantly pedaling. Also, do not forget to keep your hands and feet warm too by wearing insulated lining that will keep out the heat and cold. You also might want to consider some kind of foot balm to add warmth while riding.

Know the Road Condition
Generally, when the state road workers treat major roads, the same general conditions for motorists as they are during other seasons since salt, sand, and the sand is added. The bike path is often hijacked as well, but it is still important to consider any trail or road conditions before getting on the bike. Black and ice slippery spots can be very dangerous for the rider, so it is important to be careful when going out in winter conditions. Also, it is important to be aware of the cars around you - the driver is much more aware of bikers in the winter so make sure you see them and they can see you to safety.

One last thing to keep in mind is that the roads are cleaned less frequently in winter, which may mean more debris, such as rocks and glass, will be on the road that led to a potential hazard to your ride.
