Frozen Yogurt VS Ice Cream on Health

There loyalists on both sides of this debate. Ice cream lovers claim that their favorite dessert is creamy and tastes better. Frozen yogurt lovers tout the health benefits of their favorite treats, pointing to how unhealthy ice cream. It is a debate frozen yogurt vs ice cream on health can be a bit hot at times, but there seems to be a clear winner.

I Scream, you scream
Children love ice cream. Parents love it too, but we have to control our eating habits or risk of becoming obese and unhealthy. OK as an occasional ice cream, but it is important we set how many of our families consume. It is both high-fat and high-sugar, which can be a deadly combination.

Another factor is lactose, which is difficult for some people to handle. Too much lactose can give you a stomach ache and will make you (and those around you) miserable.

The reason lactose intolerant people have a hard time with the ice cream is the fact that it contains high amounts of milk fat. The fact that it is made from 10 to 16% milk fat and 9 to 12% milk solids is what gives it a creamy texture that we know and love. This is also what makes it so difficult for those who are lactose intolerant. The high levels of lactose are difficult for the body to digest.

Fro-Yo
Frozen yogurt has come a long way in the last decade. When done correctly, almost indistinguishable from the ice cream. It comes in a variety of flavors and, like ice cream, can be purchased at your favorite store or made at home. Instead made from a base of cream, made using yogurt as a base. This makes a healthier alternative.

When it first occurred, it was not like now. It used to have a bitter taste and consistency is more like the yogurt. Things have changed, and both are now virtually indistinguishable. Flavor and consistency that is so close, all but the most refined palates will have a hard time telling the two apart.
Best of all, frozen yogurt is a healthier choice. Milk fat make up less than half a percent of the total material, whereas milk solids 8 to 14% of the total. The small amount of milk fat combined with milk solids still make it smooth, but the fact that there is much less fat make better choices. Combine that with the fact that frozen yogurt containing cultures and enzymes that help digestion and you have a clear winner. People who can not handle lactose can often eat frozen yogurt without problems.

Put It All Together
While yogurt is a healthier choice than two, you still have to consider sugar levels. Both desserts have the same level of sugar, so they both need to be consumed in moderation. You should be more careful with the ice cream because the fat content is added. The winner of the head to head battle frozen yogurt, but it's okay to have a bowl of ice cream once in a while too. Just make sure it occasionally and do not go overboard, and you'll be fine.

If you buy frozen yogurt or ice cream at the store, it will contain more sugar than if you make it yourself at home. Get a frozen yogurt machine and make your own homemade frozen yogurt.
