Music for Meditation

Meditation has a large number of benefits, including lower levels of stress, better health, peace of mind and even access to psychic abilities and altered states of consciousness. As a result, more and more people are taking meditation than before. Unfortunately, many of these people continue to give up pretty quickly.

One of the reasons why people stop meditating because it can be very difficult at first. Sit or lie down with your eyes closed sounds easy enough, but when you try to calm your mind, it can be very frustrating when you find - like most people - that instead of calming down as you want, your mind just jumping all over the place with way completely uncontrollable.

It 'monkey mind' is pretty much a universal phenomenon, and almost everyone who tries to learn to meditate will. Only by continuing that practice mind control becomes easier, and more useful meditation.

However, there are things you can do to shorten the learning curve and make meditation easier. One of them is listening to a meditation tape that includes music.

Music for meditation is the value because it gives you something to focus thoughts. By keeping the surface of your consciousness is occupied, you tend to start thinking about random things and get carried away with your thoughts. Mind you might not really quiet when listening to music, but thought you might be less random than usual. Listening to music while you meditate help you to achieve a focused mental state more easily.

Of course, the benefits you achieve will depend also on the type of music you listen to. Most meditation music is slow and relaxing in nature; while any music gives the mind something to focus on, slow, soft music is better for meditation because the sound itself has a relaxing effect and helps to enhance the benefits of your meditation session.

Some people find that the melody of music can get a little annoying after a while, especially if you are listening to the same song over and over again every day. If you have this experience, you may prefer to use ambient music and sound, because it does not scar in the same way as music melodies with repeated listening.

Meditation music is sometimes combined with additional sound like binaural beats. It makes more effective meditation, because they directly affect the frequency of brain waves that produce your brain. When meditating, your goal is to have your brain down to a more relaxed state than usual, which corresponds to the production of brain wave frequency is lower. By listening to the recording contains binaural beats meditation (or other types of brainwave entrainment technologies such as pulse mono or isochronic tones), it will be easier to achieve this kind of relaxed state than with music alone.

Music and sound has a strong influence on consciousness, so if you want to learn to meditate, or want to expand the existing practice of meditation, it is worth exploring the use of music for meditation, especially that combines brainwave entrainment recordings as well.
