Stay Fit While Working at Home


One of the advantages of working from home, be it as a virtual assistant or a freelancer, is the flexibility of time and the freedom that goes with it. You can stay at home with your children or spend more time with your loved ones, or maybe just step out when you need to.

The downside is that, because of home work means sitting at the computer for a long time, your routine becomes rather slow-paced and active, which can affect your health. There is always hope, of course. By making a simple tweak in your priorities and habits, you can still maintain a healthy body while making money from your home.

1. Take regular breaks and get moving. If you work at home, do not let yourself glued to your computer for a long time. As with any job, you have to allow yourself a break at least every one or two hours. It will give you the opportunity to stand up and stretch for a few minutes, and regain your focus.

2. Add physical activity into your day. Just because you work at home in front of your computer does not mean you have to stop being active. There are some tasks you can do to be active, such as walking up and down stairs for a break or boxing the air. Using the parts of your break to take a walk around the neighborhood or a few minutes on the treadmill, if you have one. Some push-ups can also help, or simple yoga routines if you are into the practice of meditation.

3. Stop the practice of doing some items that are not related as well. Some people think it is a form of multi-tasking to eat while working at the computer. I really do not think so. This is only a divided attention. This practice can ruin your diet and your work.

4. Stock your kitchen with nutritious items and snacks. Working from home can cause you to develop the habit of chewing sloppy at your table. It was not bad, per se, if what you're chewing is healthy foods, such as fruits and vegetable chips. It's best to keep a pile of healthy snacks in your cupboards and refrigerator, such as nuts or dried fruit.

5. Have a bottle of water near you. A bottle of water on your desk is a good way to make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day. Keep the bottle in the fridge, so you can quickly fill up. Water can do wonders for your body and your ability to focus. It makes eliminate hunger.
Furthermore, dehydration can lead to loss of concentration, which can endanger your productivity.

These tips can help you stay fit while working at home. A home-based work does not have to ruin your health. Get the right way to think and work towards that in good shape, and you will reap tremendous benefits.
