The Effects of Prolonged Stress
Stress seems to have a way to make it into everyday life. Whether it was that long journey home, looming deadlines at work or fight with family members over dinner plans or who turn to wash the dishes, of a way of life for many people. The effects of prolonged stress, however, may be more damaging than many might think.
Stress can affect the well-being and mental and emotional stability of a person. Prolonged amount can make this problem drastically worse. Is suffering from stress due to work, finances, home or other relationship counselor seeking help can be useful for someone struggling to cope with the impact it can have.
The human body as a threat and feel the stress of prolonged exposure to these threats have a way of manifesting itself in a physical manner in addition to the mental and emotional implications that many often think of.Stress can cause weight gain or sudden weight loss. This can lead to out of control hormones cause the body to the danger of confusing what is real and what is felt.
The fight or flight hormone, adrenaline, may be in full force during the time of trouble that causes the body to constantly hyper aware of what is happening around them and can not relax. This can have disastrous effects on the heart, digestive system, and the nervous system, including the brain. This can cause increased blood pressure, increased levels of anxiety also assleeping problem.
Stress also causes an increase in the levels of cortisol in the body. Sometimes referring to the stress hormone, cortisol is released and stored in the body during times of distress which in turn can lead to weight gain and other serious health implications if the hormones are not used to what the body really meant for. Cortisol inhibits or slows reactions which are not essential functions in the body to increase the availability of glucose to places that would be required at the time of the threat, such as digestion and the immune system. It also increases the amount of tissue needed to repair cells in the case of injury (of threats). Then in terms of the possibility that every time he released one not attacked and because the hormones are not familiar, the body will store a large amount of fat it.
Stress can have a big impact on the psychological and emotional problems as well. This can lead to difficulty concentrating, depression, anxiety, mood swings, eating disorders and other emotional problems. It can have a lasting effect on the home, life, relationships and finances if allowed to continue.
Handling stress is not always easy. Often factors can not always be eliminated but one can learn how to relax their minds and bodies to ensure that when the stress that comes around they will be better prepared to handle them. Exercise, yoga, meditation and even counseling all proven effective in addressing forms of stress and its effects. As they say, laughter is the best medicine, so find joy and laughter of the simple things in life have also been shown to be an effective way to deal with someone.
Often finding the cause of stress can help get a handle on controlling it. Sessions with a counselor can help sort out whether work-related stress, problems at home or if it is a mixture of things. No matter what causes the stress of finding a way to control or eliminate it would make sure not to have a more lasting, long-term negative effects on one's health or way of life.
