Health Effects of Drugs on Vocals
Many professional voice when they are sick feeling that the only cure for their disease prescription or over the counter medication. Unfortunately, choosing this path can actually have an adverse effect on our sound than we know. In an article entitled "Common Treatments and their effects on the Voice" by Dr. Robert T. Sataloff, Professor and Chairman, Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Clinical Senior Associate Dean for Academic Specialization, Drexel University College of Medicine, the effects of drugs on the throat and voice can do more harm than good.
Dr. Sataloff also a professional singer. In this article described the health effects of drugs on vocals.
Aspirin and anti-inflammatory
Aspirin is commonly used by millions of people every day. However, aspirin 'may cause platelet dysfunction is the primary means interfere with blood clotting mechanism. " Here it is recommended to avoid the use of aspirin to prevent the possibility of vocal fold hemorrhage. I would suggest trying Bromelian, found in pineapple or Turmeric for pain and inflammation.
Antihistamines
It is well known that antihistamines can have a drying effect on the throat and respiratory tract. If nasal congestion, one of the most common uses for antihistamines, is a problem, there are many natural alternatives that can employ. Cayenne, radish, garlic and use a neti pot with eucalyptus oil incredible alternative to antihistamines to clear the sinus passages and maintain vocal health is excellent.
Prescription Drugs
Dr. Sataloff states that "all psychoactive drugs (antidepressants) have effects that can impair vocal tract physiology ... Side effects range from no effect known as the following: (a) dystharia, (b) an increase in cough, (c) an increase in GERD, (d) asthma, (e) laryngitis ... and the drying effects causing hoarseness and sore throat."
Selection of proper diet and lifestyle are very important in determining an individual's mental state. A professional sound must have a clear mind and a healthy body to produce quality and beauty that they want from their voices. Very thoughtful and aware of what you put into your body. Everything we ate sound effects and state of mind.
Steroids
Steroids have been shown to be very effective and is often used in treating allergic reactions. However, Dr. Sataloff said that the side effects, especially of inhaled steroids, including loss of voice, hoarseness, sore throat, stomach irritation with possible bleeding and drying mucusal besides many others. More times than not, allergic reactions to foods or additives can and chemicals in food.
Typical of this, MSG, Gluten, Wheat and White dairy products. As a professional sound we have to know what affects us about the food we eat. I recommend getting a food allergy tests to see what you are allergic to, and then act immediately after finding results. This simple test can change your life and have a tremendous positive effect throughout your vocal apparatus.
Health vocals for Life
The point is that we must continue to be aware of how what we put into our bodies we sound effects. Obviously, stress and life vagaries can bring us into the disease. However, what we do when we are in this country certainly affect the speed of cure us. Making the right choice is very important for a healthy body and a sound excited, and a successful career.
