Is there something like a healthy junk food? No, not really. However, you may be able to get
some healthy food from junk foods that can be considered healthy junk food.
Think something along the way such as salads or wraps to get an idea of what
a healthy junk food can. But it is rather easy, really. Let's look at this
topic a little closer and help you to make better choices when eating at one
place when you're there.
Here are some quick tips to make food healthier you will eat
less.
Rule # 1: Always reject cheese. Cheese contains large
amounts of fat and therefore adds unnecessary calories to burritos, sandwiches,
or salads. It hit me personally very difficult because I have always enjoyed
Qdoba's Steak Nachos with sour cream and cheese. However, Nachos still taste
great even without the cheese.
Rule # 2: Avoid the "fried" if you can choose the
"roast". This one is simple. Fried foods have more calories, fat, and
sodium. So, if you have a choice then choose from the Grilled Chicken Sandwich
fried version.
Rule # 3: Avoid Soda. Soda is loaded with sugar and bring
nutrients. All they do is add empty calories that are difficult to burn.
Rule # 4: Avoid "white bread". This applies to
white bread sandwiches and burgers. Go for the grain to get the option with the
lowest health impacts. It's still not great, healthy bread, but at least the
damage is minimized as much as possible.
Rule # 5: fresh fried. Ordered fries fresh and you most
likely get a fresh order. Get salt on hand and use it with caution. The result
will be a major reduction in sodium intake.
There are many ways how you can eat a little healthier in
place of junk food. Personally I have cut my junk food intake by 95% and maybe
you'll find me at McDonald's once a quarter (kids want to go there - you know)
and even then I try to make healthy choices in terms of where the food I would
order. My current favorite is the Premium Bacon Ranch Salad (without chicken)
is entered at 140 calories per serving and only 300 mg of sodium.
